Welcome to the Clinton Fire Department
The Clinton Fire Department is a city department which contracts with the Clinton Fire Protection District for rural fire protection, and the Exelon/Clinton Nuclear Power Station. Clinton is located in DeWitt County, located in Central Illinois. We are centrally located between Chicago and St. Louis.
We operate out of one station that protects the city of Clinton and 70 square miles of primarily rural area with approximately 10,000 in population. Covered in the rural area are the villages of Lane and DeWitt, the Exelon/Clinton Nuclear Power Station, Weldon Springs State Park, Mascoutin State Park and the majority of Clinton Lake (4900+ acres). We cover portions of US Highway 51, IL Rt. 10 and IL Rt. 54.
We provide Fire, Rescue, Hazardous Materials Response (Awareness Level), Fire Prevention/Safety Education, Basic Life Support - Non Transport EMS, and First Responder - Non Transport EMS Services to all communities we serve.
We routinely provide mutual aid to Kenney, Wapella, Waynesville, Weldon, Maroa, Farmer City and Forsyth.
We routinely provide Emergency Medical Services alongside DeWitt County EMS and Heyworth Ambulance. On occasion we will work with Logan County Paramedic Association, Decatur Ambulance and Arrow Ambulance.
Clinton Fire Department is led by an Interim Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief Raymond James. Clinton Fire is a combination full-time/paid on call department. Three full-time employees provide 24/7 coverage at the fire station. Clinton Fire currently has 1 Fire Chief, 1 Assistant Fire Chief, 3 Captains, 3 Full-Time Engineers, 11 Firefighters, 5 Probationary Firefighters and 4 Back Up/Reserve Engineers.
The three full-time employees are members of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 3069.
The Clinton Fire Department is always accepting applications for the position of Firefighter,
Emergency Medical Responder and/or Back Up/Reserve Engineer.
Persons eligible must be at least 18 years old.
Applicants must pass a criminal background check performed by the Clinton Police Department.
